Course aims
The course provides a practical guide to the benefits of port security management system derived from international best practice, extensive case studies, interactive sessions, and presentations.
The training brings together the resources of the stakeholder community and includes, police, emergency services, local authorities, business, and private sector security industry and staff to make an overall safer community. The course can also be developed on a bespoke basis to meet the specific needs organizations.
Course objectives
– Understand the current maritime security environment including new and emerging threats to maritime security.
– Access appropriate sources of international legislation, guidance and tools to address those threats.
– Conduct a risk and vulnerability assessment and review processes to prioritise and manage security risks.
– Design, plan, and implement a port security management system.
– Assess, manage, and ensure stakeholder engagement.
– Implement measures to benchmark and assess their effectiveness.
– Ensure continual security assurance and improvement.
– Create a port security management system Business Case.
– Support and manage the change that a port security management system can provide.
– Develop a port security management system training and awareness provision.
Target group
Senior personnel and managers with security, safety, and quality management responsibilities, suppliers and service providers with security responsibilities (e.g., law enforcement, ground handlers, maintenance organisation; regulators and legislators, critical national infrastructure organisations.
