This course will take place only when the minimum intake of 12 participants is reached, either for the edition delivered in Genoa and when hosted abroad by foreign Administrations.


Scope

The Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response training course provides in-depth knowledge and practical skills for managing marine pollution incidents, from preparedness and prevention to coordinated emergency response.

Through expert lectures, real case studies and scenario-based exercises, participants develop the ability to assess risks, activate contingency plans, coordinate response actions and operate within international regulatory frameworks, strengthening operational readiness and inter-agency cooperation.

Objectives

The Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response training course provides participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills needed to prevent, detect, and effectively respond to marine pollution incidents. The course covers international regulations, pollution sources, emergency planning, response strategies, and the use of specialized equipment during spill events.

Through presentations, case studies, and scenario-based exercises, participants will learn how to evaluate pollution risks, activate response plans, coordinate with relevant authorities, and implement safe and environmentally responsible actions. The training aims to strengthen operational readiness and enhance cooperation between all stakeholders involved in marine pollution prevention and response.

Entry Standards

The “Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response” training course is intended for personnel who play a role in preventing, detecting, reporting, and responding to marine pollution incidents. This includes: government and regulatory authorities, port and Harbour employees, maritime industry personnel, offshore platform and oil & gas facility staff, response teams and spill response contractors, environmental and safety officers and company managers and supervisors involved in emergency planning, drills, and pollution prevention policies.

VERY IMPORTANT!

If you will opt for a course in fixed mode, it will mean that you will be supposed to reach us in Italy. You will be welcome but keep in mind that in many cases getting a visa could be tricky and request a long time waiting. In this case act far in advance with your request of an invitation letter and with all the due processes with the Italian Embassy of reference. It would be sad for us not having you in the course for mere delays or bureaucratic issues!
